You do that by moving the crystals, but the way must be clear in order to move them. When five of one color is together, they disappear and make space for other crystals to be moved. In higher levels, there are special crystals that will help you completing the mission. For example the crystal with heart will color all neighboring crystals the same color.

Furthermore, you have to destroy enemy units which endanger you. You also should try to avoid barriers and main thing: don’t forget to fill in the gas regularly.
